Six of Swords (Mercury in Aquarius)

TAROT AND ASTROLOGY - SIX of SWORDS

Today’s card was done as a daily personal card pull. My notes on this at the end.

Six of Swords

Numerology - 6. The number of the heart - healing, nurturing and finding harmony. Usually I would say 6 is about compassion for others but in this card I would interpret as having compassion and kindness for oneself and allowing time for personal space and thoughts. ‘Taking time out’. 6 is also associated with ‘mother’ so mothering oneself comes to mind.

Mercury is communication - swords are air and this time is represented by Aquarius which is innovative in it’s thinking, somewhat detached at times and analytical in the way it approaches subjects. Clear thinking is needed and spontaneous (remember Aquarius is ruled by Uranus - the quirky innovator).

Six of swords helps you move on from past difficulties. It takes the stress out of life and you leave for distant shores with your burdens left behind. The element of air is light and progressive. Ideas are formulated on air. The card itself shows a boat on smooth waters - plain sailing lies ahead. It shows progress and onward movement. It can also be a time of recovery from a traumatic experience or bring light to a confusing situation.

It gives a time of reward and a break from difficulty. Even though we talk about a ‘journey over water’ (some do associate the card with Scorpio - which in my opinion is rather dark and deep for a healing card) remember that swords are air and air carries the breeze, carries inspiration and carries us to our destination.

PERSONAL NOTES
I pulled this card just before astrology class. Unfortunately I hadn’t had time to properly prepare for it so I had to literally ‘think on my feet’ as I hadn’t quite understood the assignment! Not always recommended but sometimes it’s good to be spontaneous. Mercury is my chart ruler (in Capricorn) so maybe it’s good to take a break from the more studious and serious Cap and be more erratic and instinctive with Aquarius instead! Anyways I sailed through it - gained greater understanding of the subject and hopefully conversed well within my group (Aquarius rules community).

Deck I used - I love the crystals on the swords in Ann Stokers deck - The Tarot of Eternal being. They symbolise those sparks of thought that come to a clear mind. Sparks of inspiration and high mental energy. The crystals energise thought against the aquamarine backdrop that is associated with the Aquarian energy. It’s all very clear, unfiltered and precise.
